Belinda Blue Eyes was a British newspaper strip incarnation that owed much to its transatlantic counter part, Little Orphan Annie. Reading the stories now one is struck by the frequent use of "Gee" and other Americanisms that it uses.

The original artist for the strip was Steve Dowling (Garth et al), and the first strip appeared in the Daily Mirror on 30 September 1935. In 1943 the strip was taken over by Tony Royle (with scripts by Don Freemen) and the name was shortened to Belinda.
