Albert T. (Charlie) Pease

There were two Pease brothers, Albert T. (better known as Charlie) and younger brother Harry E. who signed his strips as "HEP". Both were artists and with very similar styles, however it was Charlie who made a career out of comic art. It is believed that Charlie ran a bicycle shop prior to becoming employed with Amalgamated Press in 1924. For the next 40 years until his death in 1964, Charlie's work was never out of the funny comics. One of his most popular strips was Casey Court which ran for over ten years in the pages of Illustrated Chips. Towards the end of his career he took over the Billy Bunter strip from Frank Minnitt in Knockout and continued it in Valiant when Knockout folded. See below for a Stripography of his work.

Brother Harry also worked for AP on such titles as Curly Pimple (Comic Cuts), Professor Jolly's Magic Brolly (Illustrated Chips) prior to the war. No work seems to have been found for him during the 1939-1945 period leading to the supposition that he was serving in the forces, however he does re-surface in titles appearing after the war, mostly for Martin & Reid, including: Merry Maker, Squibbs Tuppenny, Jolly Chuckles, Coloured Slick Fun and Comic Colour. None of his work appears after the early 1950's .
